Art 1: SB HW #3 - Autumn Colored Pencil Drawing

AP Studio Marbles/Colors

Drawing & 2D (breadth 10) – Watercolor Marbles (Due: Tues. 10/8): 

Create a composition and hot glue it to your mat board square

At least 6 marbles.

Highlights and shadows are SUPER important to make things look 3D. Leave the area for highlights white, you can’t erase watercolor.

Capture the shadows and reflections, observe shapes and colors carefully. Mix colors complexly.

Zoom in, use the rule of thirds.

Take a roll of 24 images (a mixture of scenery, people, still life, abstract):

12 – Complementary colors

12 – Analogous colors

-Pick BRIGHT and VIBRANT subjects.

-The color scheme should fill the ENTIRE frame (be apparent in backgrounds etc.)

Portfolio -  A collection of documents and artworks representative of a person’s completed works and/or works in progress.

Symbol – an image that represents an idea or concept.

Baseline – The line upon which a line of text rests.

AP Breadth 9

Drawing: Breadth 9 (Due Mon. 9/30)

# 9 – White/White oil pastel drawing:

-Draw the white still life using oil pastel.

-Shade using color + white. NO BLACK OIL PASTEL.

-Look for the “ISH” of the white. What color is the white?

-Blend by layering the colors and using the white pastel to mix.

2D: Breadth 9, Due Mon. 9/30

-    Create a still life of ordinary, but interesting, objects (see example).

-Use a combination of materials:

  - Cut paper of some sort (newspaper, construction paper, tracing paper, books etc).

  - Draw the shapes 1st and use tracing paper for a guide.

  - You may enhance your collage with sharpie, watercolor, ink, etc. Consider REPETITION in your composition.

-Good composition/rule of thirds.

-Fill the page. 

2D: Photo: Family Portrait Series. Due Mon. 9/30

-Take a roll of 24 images of a family member (someone NOT your age).

-Explore a variety of poses, backgrounds and lighting. Play with candid vs. posed shots.

-Avoid cheesy smiling photos.

-Visit my blog and read/view the links. Take notes on the tips given.
