Elements of Art: CUT IT OUT! (Art 1)

Elements of Art “Cut it Out”  worksheet.
1.Cut out the cropping guide ONLY from the inside.
2.Find examples for all 7 Elements of Art (find the best examples possible) in the magazines.
3.Trace the cropping guide on the magazine to make a perfect rectangle.
4.Cut out the rectangles and glue them to your page. Glue 2 to the back so you have all 7.
5.Label each box.

6.Be neat!

Write a 400 + word Journal response to your drawing in your sketchbook. Write about concepts and stories that come to mind, not just process and materials. You can also write about any of the words from the free-association exercise we completed in class.

AP STUDIO - Breadth #6

2D: Lines (Breadth 6)
Must Haves:
-Grid of 9 Small square compositions (5” square each) or 1 LARGE (at least 12 x 18) detailed composition. Photo people –3 grid compositions OR 24 individual images. 
-Choose a detailed object/environment (either man-made/like a computer part or organic like a pinecone) that has a lot of lines. Zoom in/draw/photograph. Try to represent a variety of lines (smooth, sketchy, rough, etc.)
-Black and white media – marker, paint, or ink. (Photo – strong contrast)
-Use a viewfinder/ the rule of thirds. NOTHING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PAGE.
-DUE: Wed. 9/4 with self-evaluation.

Drawing: Keys (Breadth 6)
Must Haves:
-12 x 18 drawing in either pencil (but dark! 6B +), pastel, pen, marker, ink, or colored pencil.
-Keys/stuff in your pocket still life. (what is in there now)
-Dynamic set up (using the rule of thirds). NO KEYS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PAGE!
DUE: Wed. 9/4 with self-evaluation.

AP Studio - 2 kinds of Self

Must Haves:
-2 pieces that are 10”x 10” (square)
-1 portrait done representationally
-1 portrait done abstractly/conceptually/symbolically
-Any material or combination of materials (try to step out of your comfort zone for at least 1).
-Spend at least 3 hrs. on each. Photo people: 12 shots for each; total 24 (a “roll”) Email to me.
-Meet the standards of the Scoring Rubric.
-DUE: Mon. 8/26 with self-evaluation.
